🐝Hive Update!!🐝
The club officers recently winterized the hives!! To do this, we added insulation boards (wrapped in black material) to both of our hives. This helps to keep the temperature of the hives warmer through the winter, which relieves stress from the bees and insures they don’t go through their food stores too quickly. The insulation also helps keep the hives a steady internal temperature rather than fluctuating with the outside temperature, which again, takes some stress off the bees :)
We also added mouse barriers to the entrance of the hives so that mice don’t take shelter in the hives during the winter! ❄️ 🐁
