The Fourth Season of Division Street Pipes kicks off this week!! We hope to see you at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church this Thursday at 12:15, with our first concert of the term being presented by current Organ Scholar at St. Andrew’s, Latimer Rogland, playing a program of Pärt, Shearing, and Bach.
Latimer is a senior undergraduate student of Nicole Keller. An experienced organist and collaborative and sacred musician, particular interests and focuses include new and experimental works, organ building and technology, music by under-represented composers, the modern digital landscape of music, and the intersection of organ and electronics. Recent premieres have included solo repertoire by Julie Zhu and organ arrangements for Caroline Shaw. An active performer, primarily through organ and electronics, Latimer has been a finalist in numerous competitions including the 2025 Sursa American Organ Competition at Ball State University (Muncie, IN), National Undergraduate Organ Competition (Ottumwa, IA) and the Immanuel Lutheran Organ Scholar Competition (Evanston, IL), with performances in venues across the United States, including Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, MI, and Woolsey Hall in New Haven, CT, in addition to collaborations with U-M's Contemporary Directions Ensemble, University Philharmonia Orchestra, and the Collegiate and Youth Symphony Bands. Latimer also directs the visual material and PR for U-M’s Organ Department. A member of the inaugural cohort of Organ Scholars at First Presbyterian Church (Columbia, SC), Latimer Rogland studied organ under Thomas Russell as well as piano and percussion with Anna Hamilton and Matthew Jones, respectively, with additional organ instruction from Martin Schmeding, James O’Donnell, Tom Bara, Lynne Davis, Felix Hell, Jeanette Fischell, Johnathan Gregoire, and Catherine Rodland.
