Thanks to everyone who joined us for the "Before the Flood" Screening tonight. Here is Leonardo's finishing speech presented to the UN in case one time isn't enough!

http://leonardodicaprio.org/landmark-day-earth/

Leonardo addresses the United Nations on Earth Day 2016, marking a historic milestone as over 170 nations sign the 'Paris Agreement' -- a sweeping climate pact negotiated last year aimed at slowing global warming.

The distressing news is that it appears to be succeeding. If you want to extend the ban on single-use plastic bags statewide — which is now the law in nearly 150 localities — you need to vote yes on Proposition 67. Data by the research group Political Data Inc. showed that 68 percent of voters who s...

Sustain Cabrillo

Hello everyone, Exiting news! The Power Shift Network is partnering with the California Student Sustainability Coalition for Power Shift West Convergence 2016! Join young climate and social justice leaders from all over the West for a weekend of workshops, trainings, speakers, and movement-building.
The theme of the convergence: “Reclaim Today, Transform Tomorrow.” We know that the face of climate and environmental activism too often doesn’t represent those who are most impacted by pollution, the impact of climate change, and the fossil fuel industry’s greed. In Berkeley, we’ll dig into how we can reclaim and transform our movement to put the stories and struggles of the most impacted communities front and center—starting today.

This is going to be an awesome weekend long event (more Info & Description in links Below) so we will be staying in Berkeley for friday and saturday night, which means working out carpools, possibly public transit groups and housing!
The Sustainability Council will be purchasing 10 financial aid tickets as well as paying for the gas plus wear and tear of all carpool drivers . There is "Scholarship" registration available that we ask people look into to supplement the 10 ticket slots. If scholarships don't work out, however, and those 10 tickets get taken up and its looking too financially impactful, please just put in a word to either of the numbers below and we will get you a ticket.
There will be meals provided there but we are recommending that everyone bring some money for food (however much you think you'll need for a weekend). Where we are all staying is still up in the air, we may all get placed together (like in a church or youth center) or we may be split off into separate housing so we may or may not be able to cook dinner together but expect to bring overnight and sleeping supplies, sleeping bag and pad ideally. You will also want to make sure to bring a note book.

We have two meetings left between now and then at our usual times Thursdays at 1:00pm in the amphitheater and we will be having an extra meeting next week to help prepare for this (time and place TBA).

If you are interested in coming please contact Deanna (contact info below) and give her your email so we can keep you in the loop and if you are able to The registration link is below!!! (*1) :
