We are so proud of our graduates and want to share the awesome things they are doing in our community! Below, you can read what Katie shared about where her Bethel nursing degree has taken her!
"My name is Katie Jones, used to be Katie Pratt, and I am so grateful to have graduated from Bethel with my nursing degree. I believe it opened many doors for me and prepared me well for my career!
I currently work on the Nursing Professional Development Team at Allina Health where I have the opportunity to support, encourage and engage with many nursing professionals across the health system. I am currently the Preceptor Program and Nurse Residency Program Manager.
Nurse Residency is a very cool program for new graduate nurses and nurses that are new to Allina. The program is 6 months long, meeting once per month for 4 hours. The content in the sessions is presented by professionals across Allina to help support the growth, development and well-being of our nurses. We focus more on the “being” of nursing rather than the “doing”. Some topic examples are employee well-being, moral distress, risk management, legal perspectives on documentation and preventing escalating behaviors.
I also had an opportunity to be a partner with Hastings High School to develop a healthcare industry class for the 2025-2026 school year. The class is offered to juniors and seniors that are interested in the healthcare field. Over a semester, the class covers a lot of content like medical terminology, body systems functions, case studies, professions in the industry and how they all work together, site visits, ethics, etc. I had a lot of fun developing content, and working with the high school teacher to bring in professionals from Allina to speak about their role.
I have had a very fun career after graduation from Bethel and I am grateful my current role allows me to encourage, support and engage with a lot of people across Allina."
