We had lots to celebrate at the Athletic Awards Ceremony! Our students represent us so well on the court, track, pitch, pool, and field, but also in the classroom and their daily lives. We proudly claim them as our own! 🇷🇺🇧🇦🇨🇭

We’ve always believed that the Grant Center has the best students, and our International Student of the Year recipient lives up to that claim. Ramon not only excels on the tennis court, but in his classes, relationships with professors, classmates, teammates and friends, and his gentle demeanor that exudes compassion. Ouachita is sending one of the best back to Switzerland, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Our international and third culture students were well represented at the University Community Service Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Elrod Center. Seven of them were either recognized or received awards for their service to others during this past academic year. What a meaningful reflection of their heart to serve!

We are so proud of all of our international and third culture students who presented their research at Ouachita Baptist University’s Scholars Day 2026. What an incredible group of students—their hard work, dedication, and passion were on full display. We are grateful for each of them and the unique perspectives they bring. Truly an amazing group!

Malvern HS students engaged in a fruitful discussion on claims and disagreeing respectfully. OBU intern, Nathan Clark, sparked it by claiming that Cars was the best movie ever made, and backed it up with strong evidence and reasoning. A great example of how lighthearted topics can build serious skills - critical thinking, communication, and respectful debate! 💜🧡

It was a pleasure to catch up this weekend with 2018 graduate Tristan Benzon, who works as a counselor in St Louis.

Originally from Zimbabwe, Tristan enjoyed taking every African History course he could at Ouachita and double-majored in Psychology. He performed original research in both areas, including work on depersonalization during the Rwandan genocide, which he presented at an international conference and submitted to a journal.

Tristan holds an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and works with adolescents and families, particularly when they are experiencing anxiety. He said that he greatly appreciated the relational spirit of his Ouachita professors and added that his History major has helped him to become a better counselor, as he is able to think analytically about people and also about how their pasts influence their presents.

Well done, Tristan! And as always, we are ever eager to hear more from our dear and far-flung alums.
