OBU Language & Literature aka The Bugtruck

OBU Language & Literature aka The Bugtruck The home of Ouachita Baptist University's Language & Literature Department!

One might wonder where on earth we got the term "Bugtruck" and what possessed us to use it so affectionately. If one WERE to wonder such a thing, one might hie him (or her) over to the office of Dr. Thunderlizard, our eminent Keeper of Historical Facthoods and official Bestower of Nicknames. He and the other member's of the Bugtruck crew, Mary Poppins on Speed, Tonks, and Pickwick, along with our

fearless leader, the Emporer of Ice Cream, will be more than happy to share their stories of the glory days, before the EVIL business department came and stole our Pretty Room. And we're sure that somewhere in there, after a few tangential tales involving the long lost White Rabbit and the god A Praegrandis, the listener would find find her (or him)self to have fallen under the same spell we have all succumbed to, the ubiquitous Bugtruck Bug!

"So hand in hand they passed, the loveliest pair
That ever since in love's embraces met--
Adam The goodliest man of men since born
His sons; The fairest of her daughters Eve."

Easy enough to hold hands when walking carefree in the garden, but as Dr. Jay Curlin explained to Dr. Ben Utter’s C.S. Lewis class today in his guest lecture on allusions to Paradise Lost in Peralandra, Milton depicts Adam and Eve clasping hands even as they argue--a practice he and his wife Bonnie Dale Curlin endorse and kindly demonstrated to our wonderful students.
