Twenty-five years later, we remember September 11, 2001.

We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage of those who ran toward danger to care for others.

As we prepare the next generation of nurses, we are reminded that caring for others is more than a profession . . . it is a calling. May we lead with compassion, serve with courage, and never forget the importance of being a light in difficult times.

“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18

💜💜 PARTNER SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT:
This month, we’re proud to highlight our final partner school, Ouachita Baptist University Department of Nursing located in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

Ouachita’s nursing program is preparing students for more than a career—it’s preparing them for a calling. Rooted in faith and learning, Ouachita equips students with the knowledge, compassion, and critical-thinking skills needed to serve others through the ministry of nursing.

Through classroom learning, clinical experiences, and mentorship from dedicated faculty, students are encouraged to grow both professionally and spiritually as they prepare to become compassionate caregivers.

We’re honored to partner with Ouachita and support students who are answering God’s call.

Yesterday’s simulation gave our students the opportunity to step into the world of telehealth! 💻🩺

Through hands-on practice, they’re learning how to assess patients, communicate effectively, and provide safe, compassionate care even when the patient isn’t in the room.

Diving Into Ethics 💜 Last week, our junior nursing students kicked off week two of the semester with Issues & Ethics, exploring the foundational principles that guide safe, ethical care.

Topics included justice, nonmaleficence, HIPAA, informed consent, nondisclosure and the timeless principle of do no harm. These concepts form the backbone of every decision a nurse makes on behalf of a client, and our juniors are building that foundation early in their journey toward practice.

Proud of these future nurses for engaging deeply with what it means to care ethically and well.

⚖️ Fall Course Spotlight | Junior Year: Issues and Ethics in Nursing
Nursing is more than clinical skills. It is a profession shaped by history, law, ethics, culture, and calling.
Issues and Ethics in Nursing explores the historical, political, legal, and spiritual foundations of the nursing profession. Students examine real-world ethical dilemmas through the lens of nursing standards, Christian principles, and theories of law, addressing topics like patient self-determination, health policy, transcultural care, and professional relationships.
At Ouachita, we believe excellent nurses are also thoughtful, principled people. This course is where that work begins. 💜

Happy Labor Day from OBU Nursing! 💜

Today we celebrate the dedication of every nurse, nurse educator, and healthcare worker who shows up shift after shift to care for others. Nursing is more than a career, it's a calling to serve with skill and compassion.

"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." Colossians 3:23

To our students preparing to join this profession and our alumni already living it out, thank you for your hard work. Enjoy the rest today; you've earned it.

This week in nursing! 💜 Our students are diving into new territory, from skin assessment and endocrine alterations to labor and delivery. Exams are already underway for some of our Juniors, and our Seniors are deep into maternity content. Proud of how hard our students are working right out of the gate!

Serve with Purpose 💜 Tiger Serve Day is coming up on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to noon!

Join fellow Ouachita students, faculty and staff as we head out into Arkadelphia in teams to rake, trim bushes, clean flowerbeds, wash cars, paint, wash windows and more. It's a morning of hands-on service that reflects Christ's example of humility and love, "made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant" (Phil. 2:6-8), and a chance to build real relationships with the people we serve.

📋 Fall Course Spotlight | Junior Year
Every great nurse starts somewhere, and for OBU Nursing juniors, it starts here.
Concepts in Nursing Foundations introduces the essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes that define professional nursing practice. Drawing from the physical, biological, and behavioral sciences, students learn to organize client care using the nursing process, both in our campus lab and in real healthcare settings.
This is where theory meets practice for the very first time. 💜
