🧪 AP Chemistry Review Day – A Huge Success! 🧪
This past Saturday, we hosted an engaging and high-impact AP Chemistry Review session, welcoming 70 motivated high school students from across the DFW area. From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, students participated in an intensive review designed to boost confidence and exam readiness ahead of the AP Chemistry exam.
Led by Dr. Snow Xu, the session blended focused mini-lectures with guided practice, giving students opportunities to review core concepts, ask questions, collaborate with peers, and work through challenging AP-style problems in a supportive and interactive environment.
📘 Topics covered included:
• Atomic structure & periodic trends
• Chemical bonding & molecular geometry
• Intermolecular forces
• Stoichiometry & reactions
• Thermochemistry
• Kinetics
• Equilibrium
• Acids & bases
• Solubility equilibria
• Electrochemistry
Special emphasis was placed on connecting concepts across units, interpreting data, and developing effective strategies for both multiple-choice and free-response questions.
👏 A huge thank-you to our undergraduate teaching assistants whose enthusiasm and dedication made a meaningful impact throughout the day:
De La Cruz, Jordyn Gresky, Morgan Samia, Fairooz, Akangkha, Zayana Ashraf, Ray, Leah Kristine, Duong Brandon G., Nguyen Doan, Nguyen Tan, and Camaret Ethan.
🏫 We were excited to welcome students from many schools across the region, including Colleyville Heritage, South Grand Prairie, Parish Episcopal, Grand Prairie Collegiate Institute, Harmony Science Academy Euless, James Martin, L.D. Bell, Mansfield Summit, Mansfield Timberview, Trinity, Woodrow Wilson, Carroll High School, and more.
🎁 To keep energy high, students earned UTA-themed giveaways—T-shirts, stickers, and USB flash drives—for active participation and engagement.
👨👩👧👦 Parents also enjoyed a special Chemistry Department tour led by Dr. Seal Lawton Anthony and Jason Hoshikawa, offering a behind-the-scenes look at teaching labs and research facilities.
This event was a wonderful example of collaboration, enthusiasm, and commitment to student success. We’re proud to support these aspiring scientists and grateful to everyone who helped make the day such a success.
💙 Best of luck to all our students on the AP Chemistry exam—you’ve got this!
