Our English majors/minors will be sharing original research and creative work throughout the day, from Gothic literature and Arthurian legends to awe, storytelling, and more. Come support their work, learn something new, and spend time in a space centered on curiosity and inquiry.

Congratulations to Carson Wright (BA English, Dec. ’25) on the official publication of his undergraduate research!

Carson’s article, “Perception and Practice: How Humanities Students Understand and Articulate Their Engagement with Data,” was developed during his time at UTA in collaboration with .timothyponce and has been published in Scatterplot, a data science journal under the Mathematical Association of America.

From research meetings and presentations to publication, this achievement reflects Carson’s dedication, curiosity, and commitment to bridging the humanities and data studies. Congratulations, Carson!

Good luck to our UTA English undergrads as they head to present their creative work at the 2026 Sigma Tau Delta Convention this weekend in New Orleans!

We’re so proud of Acadia Clements, Rayne Blickenderfer, Ander Ayala, Ash Guerrero, Zoe Leddy, and Lo McKelvey for sharing their short stories and poetry collections on a national stage. They’ve been putting in the work (including a mock convention for practice this week), and now it’s go time. Mav Up!

Congratulations to Cindy Malone, PhD candidate and lecturer in the UTA Department of English, on receiving the Innovation in Literary Pedagogy award at the Conference of College Teachers of English earlier this month in Waco!

Cindy was recognized for her paper, “Teaching Literature Using Affect Theory – The Class Discussions We Want and the Scores We Need,” which highlights innovative approaches to fostering meaningful classroom conversations while meeting assessment goals.

We’re proud to see her impactful work in literary pedagogy recognized on a broader stage!
