CUAHSI CEO Jordan Read recently visited University of Iowa's IIHR Engineering Services (Iowa Institute of Hydrologic Research) and presented, CUAHSI's Vision for Community-Focused Infrastructure for Advancing Water Research and Education, covering the current landscape of water science, CUAHSI's three core capabilities, and the organization's forward-looking priorities as it enters its 25th year. The visit also included small research group and department meetings, and wrapped up with a tour of IIHR's remarkable physical facilities: flumes, wave-generation tanks, scale physical models, computational fluid dynamics setups, and an impressive drop shaft model for combined sewage/wastewater overflow systems used by major cities.

CUAHSI Data Publishing Program
Get your data across the finish line!

Are you sitting on a nearly finished dataset that just needs a push to be published and shared? CUAHSI invites you to join a new 3-week cohort program designed to help researchers clear the “last mile” of data publishing.

The course consists of five virtual guided sessions 1–3 hours per week, beginning on May 18. Visit our website for more program details and to submit an application.

25 years of CUAHSI. 25 years of water science, together.

Since 2001, we've watched HydroShare grow to more than 25,000 users, our Cyberseminar program that launched in 2003 has made hundreds of expert presentations available at no cost, and our workshops and meetings bring people together in ways that spark real collaborations.

This year, we're celebrating what all of that has made possible and we want to hear from YOU.

What's your CUAHSI moment?

Was it a conversation at a meeting that changed your direction? A dataset published through HydroShare that made a difference? Something you learned at a workshop that stuck with you?

Send your story, memory, or a favorite photo to [email protected]. We'll be sharing anniversary reflections all year long, and yours could be one of them.

Drop a comment below and let us know what CUAHSI means to you!

Online Workshop on Water Resources Management for Undergraduate Students

Join The University of Texas at Arlington this summer for an engaging, hands-on workshop exploring real-world challenges in water resources management. Designed for undergraduate students from any major enrolled at U.S. universities, this hybrid program combines two online live sessions ( 15–16 June) with an asynchronous component (17 –26 June), offering flexibility while building meaningful skills.

Participants will examine issues such as water scarcity, pollution, and governance through interactive activities, case studies, and peer discussions. Using tools like game theory and multi-criteria decision-making, students will explore how communities make complex decisions about shared water resources and develop collaborative solutions.

A stipend is available for undergraduate participants. Spots are limited–apply by 31 May! Please fill out this interest form:

Join us April 1, 2026 from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET for a hands-on data skills webinar where we will explore hydrologic data products published by the National Ecological Observatory Network, Inc. (NEON) across observational, instrumented, and remote sensing subsystems. In the first half of the webinar, we will focus on downloading and exploring various NEON hydrologic data products. In the second half, we will dive deeper into NEON hydrology data, using co-located terrestrial-aquatic sites to examine the water cycle at multiple levels. The webinar will be led by NEON data product managers, and we will save time at the end of the webinar for any questions or discussion about using NEON data in your own research. The code for the webinar will be available in both Python and R environments.
