It's time to get to know one of the SAR Center's newest staff members.
Q: Where did you receive your degrees? What did you study?
A: Bachelor of Science in Economics – Texas Tech University (Currently pursuing) Associates of Applied Science in ASL/English Interpretation – Collin College
Q: When did you start working at UTA and what's your title?
A: June 12, 2023 - American Sign Language Interpreter
Q: Best or worst job prior to starting at UTA and why?
A: My favorite job prior to starting UTA was serving as a Revenue Manager for Hilton Worldwide. The employee engagement and work life balance made all the difference. Hilton created an environment where I, as an employee, I had the autonomy and capability to get the job done however, within reason, how I saw fit. I didn’t feel micromanaged and overall have never been more productive at any other position. Also, the events, swag, happy hours, and retreats made my team feel like a team where I could contribute and collaborate.
Q: What is one interesting thing you’ve learned about UTA so far?
A: UTA has an awesome wheelchair basketball team.
Q: If you could give one piece of advice to college students, what would it be?
A: Exploration through clubs, events, and mentorship are your greatest asset in deciding what it is you actually want to do in life. Start exploring EARLY!
