George Mason Law Library

George Mason Law Library The Law Library is maintained primarily for the use of George Mason University School of Law students, faculty, and staff.

The George Mason University Law Library is an academic research center that supports the information needs of the faculty and students of the Antonin Scalia Law School. The library is also open to George Mason University students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as members of the bench and bar and the general public. ALL visitors who are not currently enrolled at or employed by George Mason Un

iversity must sign-in at the Circulation Desk and are required to present a current government-issued photo identification card. Non-GMU users who are using the library for activities other than legal research or use of the federal government depository collection will be asked to leave.

The Law Library’s very own Melanie Knapp, Associate Dean of Library & Technology, was recently recognized as the recipient of 2026 Rick Holt Active Transportation Advocate Award!

This award recognizes a Mason faculty or staff member who is committed to utilizing, promoting, and advocating for the use of active transportation as part of their daily commute life.

Dean Knapp is an avid cyclist and regularly bikes from DC to the Mason Square campus every week for her commute. She’s also our biggest supporter in choosing to walk or bike to campus and a great resource for learning more about how Mason supports these active transportation options.

We were thrilled to join her on the Mason Square Plaza on Bike to Mason Day last week to receive her award - congratulations Dean Knapp! 🚴‍♀️

As you prepare for finals, don’t forget to take a break! We have study break stations with puzzles and coloring pages on all 4 floors of the Library ready to go and we’ll be putting snacks out so keep an eye out for those at the Circulation Desk.
