According to Glassdoor, the average intern earned $24.63 per hour in 2022.

Some of the companies who offer the highest wages for interns include: Stripe (avg. monthly salary of $9,064), Roblox (avg. monthly salary of $9,017), NVIDIA (avg. monthly salary of $8,280), along with many more.

According to a survey conducted by RippleMatch, companies open the largest share of entry-level and internship positions in the month of October.

STEM candidates generally submit their applications in October, while non-STEM candidates submit their applications in October and February.

The survey also concluded that September is the busiest month for companies hosting recruitment events. Be sure to be on the lookout for recruiting events during September!

According to a 2023 survey conducted by RippleMatch, 49% of students send out 50+ internship applications before receiving an offer. According to the survey report, this high volume of applications may be caused by students' wavering confidence in their ability to be selected for an internship.

RippleMatch reports that 2023 graduate's barriers to receiving an internship were different than 2022's graduates. 2022 graduates reported challenges in standing out to recruiters and interview preparedness. In contrast, 2023 graduates report challenges with knowing what companies are seeking interns among widespread layoffs and matching an internship to individual interests and skills. Recruiters can help restore confidence in the job market by making opportunities easy to find.

With Gen Z slowly entering the workforce, a study in the International Journal of Educational Leadership argues, it is important to recognize how the perception of good leadership has changed. According to the study, Gen Z Employees value some traditional characteristics as well as innovative characteristics. Some of these traits include: foresight, accountability, respect for privacy, ability to work in a team, digital skills, and emotional intelligence.

According to NACE, while all internship hourly wages have adjusted for inflation, "interns within the computer science, engineering, and actuarial science majors have the highest average hourly wages." More than half of respondents to NACE's 2024 survey provide relocation assistance to interns.

According to NACE, 48% of entry-level positions now operate in a hybrid modality, requiring employees to work remotely as well as on-site. According to NACE, "research suggests that, long term, we will likely work in and out of the office." At the NACE Summer 2023 Internship Cohort, 64.8% of internships were hosted in a hybrid modality.
