Paul A. Reid Distinguished Service Award for Faculty
Yue Hillon, recipient of the Reid Distinguished Service Award for Faculty, has quickly become an outstanding member of the WCU community in her four years on campus, Morrison-Shetlar said.

Hillon has voluntarily contributed many hours to at least four major planning initiatives, Morrison-Shetlar said. “Her efforts in these initiatives are consistent, high quality and selfless. She incorporates her students in this work and affords them opportunities to engage with service while applying the principles of strategic management learned under her tutelage. We would not have been successful in navigating very politically charged landscapes without her deft, diplomatic and collegial skill,” Morrison-Shetlar said.

Congratulations to MBA alum Arthur Salido! Arthur will take up a new role as WCU's executive director for community and economic engagement and innovation beginning May 15.

Arthur Salido, associate professor of chemistry and director of Western Carolina University’s bid for reaccreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, has been selected to oversee WCU’s community, economic and innovation outreach efforts.

Welcome to our fall 2016 new and returning graduate students! Here are some stats about our fall students at the Graduate School and our new MBA students:

At the Graduate School, we have 1633 students! 48% of our students are full time and 52% are part time. 67% identify as female, 33% as male. We have students from the US, Canada, Germany, Nigeria, Venezuela, Bangladesh, Belize, Iran, Ireland, Mexico, and Zimbabwe!

In the MBA program, we have 35 new students; 66% are part time and 34% are full time. 46% identify as female, 54% as male. We have students from the US, Ireland, and Nigeria (not including our US citizens who are natives of other countries).
