Victory over Japan (V-J) Day

On September 2, 1945, representatives of Japan formally surrendered aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay, bringing World War II to an end.
More than eight decades later, the legacy of the Americans who served during the war lives on.
V-J Day allows us to remember their courage, their sacrifices, and a generation whose service changed the course of history.

A conversation can save a life.
Throughout National Su***de Prevention Month, we encourage our campus community to check in with friends, classmates, colleagues, veterans, and service members. Reaching out, even with a simple “How are you doing?” can make a difference.

"Airborne" is more than a qualification—it's a legacy.

National Airborne Day commemorates the Army's first official parachute jump on August 16, 1940, and recognizes the generations of paratroopers who have answered the call to serve.

To everyone who has earned the parachutist badge, thank you for your courage, commitment, and service.

Some of history's greatest contributions were made without seeking recognition.

The Navajo Code Talkers used their native language to create an unbreakable code that proved instrumental during World War II, helping Allied forces communicate securely across the Pacific.
Their courage, ingenuity, and patriotism continue to inspire generations.

The effects of military service do not always end when the mission is over.

Agent Orange Awareness Day serves as a reminder of the lasting impact that herbicide exposure has had on Vietnam veterans and their families.

We honor those who continue to live with its effects and thank our Vietnam veterans for their service, sacrifice, and resilience.

Few military decorations carry the weight and meaning of the Purple Heart.

Awarded to service members wounded or killed in action, the Purple Heart represents extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and devotion to duty.

We pause to remember those who have paid such a heavy price in defense of our nation and extend our deepest gratitude to every Purple Heart recipient. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
