We’re looking for students, faculty, and staff to represent Athens State and help bring the Summit to life as we welcome our attendees and facilitators to our campus for one of the university’s biggest community events of the summer.

Volunteering is a great way to get involved, meet new people, and even earn service hours for programs that require volunteer credit. Whether you can help for a few hours or for the full event, we’d love to have you on the team! 💙💛

☀️ IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN ☀️

📢 Registration is officially OPEN for the 4th Annual Summer Writing & Arts Summit hosted by the Athens State University Writing Center!

📆 Join us June 25–26, 2026 for two days of workshops, performances, presentations, and collaborative creative experiences designed to bring writers, artists, musicians, students, and community members together in one shared creative space.

And this year… we’re bringing MUSIC into the mix. 🎵

✍️From poetry and songwriting to publishing, storytelling, visual arts, and creative collaboration, this year’s Summit offers something for everyone. Hear from featured writers and musicians, explore sessions focused on craft and creativity, participate in hands-on workshops, and connect with a growing creative community built around support, expression, and experimentation. 🎨🎶

We’re excited to welcome back 🗣️ Alabama Poet Laureate Jacqueline Trimble alongside featured guests 🎸 Lee Bains and Eric Essix 🎸as part of this year’s expanded music and songwriting programming. We’re also thrilled to have Wild Alabama return for guided forest bathing sessions focused on creativity and the natural world. 🌿

☀️ Welcome back to the Summer Semester! Hopefully you had a chance to relax, recharge, and enjoy a little break before diving back in. Summer classes can move fast, but don’t worry, we’ve got your back!

✍️📆 The Writing Center will officially reopen for tutoring sessions on Tuesday, May 26. We’ll have limited hours this week while we get back into the groove of things, so feel free to drop us a line or pop in to get started off on the right foot!

We're excited to be at the Earth Day & Outdoor Expo + Arbor Day at Athens State University with Wild Alabama today! It's a beautiful day, so come join us for a Forest Bathing/Writing the Wild session at 11:30 or 1:30 on the front lawn of Founders Hall, or stop by their table and write your own "Love Letter to Wilderness" anytime today between 10am-3pm.
