Today’s Thursday Forum featured Eirene Binabiba, Ph.D. Candidate in Mass Communication and Media Arts Studies, who shared insights from her dissertation on how digital platforms are reshaping humanitarian action.

Her talk highlighted how individuals living through crises are using tools like social media, crowdfunding, and online storytelling to document experiences, mobilize support, and communicate directly with global audiences.

Rather than being seen only as victims, affected communities are actively asserting agency and redefining how humanitarian narratives are told.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this engaging and thought-provoking discussion!
