We offer travel-based experiential learning study abroad programs in conjunction with UGA Study Away. UGA Discover Abroad offers study abroad programs in Australia, Antarctica, Botswana, Fiji, Hawaii, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK. UGA’s Discover Abroad office provides students with an engaging and experiential educational-travel opportunity to some of the world’s most dramatic landscapes.

We focus on broad questions of how humans interact with the natural environment, with a view of understanding how we may live more sustainably. We hope to foster a society with a greater sense of global environmental stewardship.

Live and learn in the Smoky Mountains this summer!

We have a few spaces left in Discover Abroad's Smoky Mountains National Park trip, Aug. 10-16. The 3-credit course, Field Studies in Conservation (FORS/ANTH 4270/6270), is open to all majors and uses the national park as your classroom.

Learn the natural and cultural history of the Smokies through guided hikes. Expert lectures teach about wildlife in the park and how it is managed. Plus, take part in innovative environmental education and interpretative programs (for example catching salamanders or air quality experiments).
