This Wednesday September 21 marks the United Nations declared International Day of Peace. According to the UN "Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace". The theme for 2022 is "End racism. Build peace".

Throughout this week War and Peace Studies will be providing links, readings and additional information on this topic to bring forward some of the key issues related to the ideas of racism and peace.

The United Nations has declared April 4 International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. This declaration is to
raise awareness of the threat caused by landmines to the safety, health and lives of civilian populations, and encourages state Governments to develop mine-clearing programs. Check out this information from the UN on the background and history of UNMAS and check back throughout the week for more information on current projects and issues!

On 8 December 2005, the General Assembly declared that 4 April of each year shall be observed as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action.
