Meet Rysan Leong ‘24, a Sports Management alum and 2023 NAIA National Champion wrestler. Born and raised in Hawaiʻi, Rysan used his time at Menlo to build a powerful bridge between his athletic passion and his professional career.

Through Menlo’s internship program, he launched Hawaii Intensive Wrestling Camps (HIWC) to provide elite, localized training for young athletes, so they wouldn’t have to face the high costs of traveling across the Pacific like he once did. Now he’s taking his competitive drive to the ultimate stage, coming off a pro MMA debut win by unanimous decision and gearing up for his next fight on June 13 at the Tech CU Arena in San Jose. 🏆🥊

Rysan’s Menlo experience has been because it empowered him to turn an internship into a real-world venture with deep community impact: “We have the talent right here, so why send our kids across the ocean when we can build it ourselves with Hawaiʻi-grown wrestlers?”

Congratulations, Rysan! 💙 Share why you think college is worth it through the link in our bio!

Meet Nenotte Aminata Yacine Seck, though most of the campus knows her as Nays. A Finance student from Dakar, Senegal, Nays fell in love with the Bay Area during a family vacation and decided to make Menlo College her home. As an international student navigating a new country, she completely immersed herself in the Menlo community. Through student government, she served her peers, and on the global business stage, she and her team just took the #1 spot overall globally and regionally in the 2026 Global Scaling Challenge! 🏆

Nays' Menlo experience has been because of the unexpected family and future she built here: "Being an international student far from home, I wasn't sure what to expect, but Menlo gave me a community I genuinely didn't see coming. The confidence, the experiences, and the friendships I'm walking away with are something I'll always be grateful for."

Congratulations, Nays! If you see her around, make sure to say hi (she promises she's Nays!). 💙

Now meet Roy Diaz-Lopez ’26, a double major in Accounting and AI & Analytics on his path to becoming a CPA and former Treasurer of the Accounting Club. Coming to Menlo from Eastside College Prep, Roy wanted to build a strong professional network right in the Bay Area community he calls home.

Arriving on campus undeclared, a freshman accounting class changed everything for him, sparking a passion for the industry. Alongside his busy academic schedule, Roy has spent his time giving back to the campus, whether it was managing information systems and game operations behind the scenes for Oaks Athletics, or organizing networking panels for his peers.

Roy's Menlo experience has been because "As a first-generation student and immigrant, receiving a college education is deeply important to me and my family. My scholarship allowed my family to worry less about the financial burden of college, and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’m getting here at Menlo."
Congratulations, Roy. We are so proud of your leadership, and we can't wait to see you thrive in your career! 💙

It's Week, and we're celebrating the Oaks whose Menlo journeys remind us exactly why higher education matters. 🌳

Meet Marc Hegele, Menlo's Class of 2026 Valedictorian. Marc moved from Germany to Atherton and found so much more than he expected.

Through the Rising Scholars program, he fell in love with learning. As a Community Advisor, he mentored students finding their footing just as he once did. And through the CFA Institute Research Challenge and the Global Scaling Challenge, he took the Menlo name to the world stage.

Marc's Menlo experience has been because "I'm incredibly grateful for the tight-knit community that turned a foreign campus into a true home."

Congratulations, Marc! We can't wait to see what comes next. 💙
