Emory has 19 Gilman Scholars who are studying abroad program this summer, the latest in the now-199 outstanding undergrads who have received the U.S. State Department award since 2021.

Each of the scholars are pursuing credit-bearing academic studies and career-oriented internships abroad. They include:

Milan Browning, a rising senior and interdisciplinary studies major, who is studying with Emory European Politics in Berlin.

Amari Burnett, a rising senior with a dual major in human health and political science, who is studying with the SIT program "Health and Community: Globalization, Culture and Care" in Washington D.C., India, South Africa and Argentina.

Briana Castillo, a rising junior and dual international relations and music major, who is studying at the University of St Andrews in Scotland.

Maysam Elghazali, who graduated this spring with a dual degree in human health and philosophy, politics & law, who is studying with Emory Human Health in Paris.

Maria Guzman Palmeros, a rising sophomore majoring in neuroscience and behavioral health, who is studying with the Emory Portuguese program in Lisbon.

Irene Han, a rising junior majoring in psychology, who is studying with Emory Psychology in the British Isles.

Nola Hood, a rising senior and nursing major, who is studying with the Emory Iberian Studies Program.

Robert Hudson, a rising senior and biology major, who is studying with the Emory Argentine Studies Program.

Kofi Igyan, a rising senior majoring in neuroscience and behavioral biology, who is studying with Emory Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology Studies in Paris.

Beatriz Monsivais, a rising sophomore with an undeclared major, who is studying with Emory Global Health Nutrition in Peru Program.

Shreya Mudaliar, a rising senior majoring in nursing, who is studying with Emory Human Health in Paris.

Mariana Palancares, a rising sophomore with an undeclared major, who is studying with Emory Korean Studies program in Seoul.

Jenny Tham, a rising senior and nursing major, who is studying with Emory Korean Studies program in Seoul.

Rising juniors Andrew Conlon and Hlina Temesgen have begun 15 months of intensive research this summer as Emory's latest Beckman Scholars.

The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation provides high-achieving undergraduates funding to work with research mentors in preparation for an eventual PhD.

Andrew is working with Emory ethnobotanist Cassandra Quave, while Hlina is working with Emory chemist Bill Wuest.
