EAS Student of the Month! 💚

Trisha Tambe is an EAS undergraduate entering her final year at Georgia Tech. Passionate about atmospheric chemistry and aerosols, she conducts research under Dr. Greg Huey. For her undergraduate thesis project, she received Rutt Bridges Fellowship funding to establish a network of air quality sensors and investigate how aerosol mass concentrations vary across Atlanta; she is now pursuing publication. As a leader in the GT Methane Experiment VIP, she delivered a talk on Atlanta's methane sources at the Spring 2026 American Chemical Society conference. This summer, Trisha is conducting atmospheric chemistry research at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado as part of the SOARS program. Outside the lab, Trisha is an EAS 1600 TA and was recently recognized as an Institute-wide Undergraduate TA of the Year. She also serves as a student liaison for the EAS Undergraduate Studies Committee and enjoys volunteering with SGE (Earth Science Honor Society). After graduating in Spring 2027, she plans to pursue her PhD. In her free time, Trisha loves serving as a caving instructor with ORGT, climbing, hiking, and playing the piano. A fun fact is that she's done fieldwork at both Carlsbad Caverns and Mammoth Cave National Park!

Hats off to our AOS, EAS, ENVS, & SEP Graduates!

You studied rocks, storms, oceans, and everything in between. You conquered labs, fieldwork, group projects, and probably a few all-nighters too.

We’re so proud of everything you’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next.

Congrats, Class of 2026! You did it!

EAS Student of the Month - May 2026!

Daniel Lamprea is a fourth-year Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences major with a minor in mathematics, graduating in May 2026. He is currently working in Dr. Ali Sarhadi’s group, focusing on the economic risk of tropical cyclone tornadoes. He also works as a TA for the EAS 1600 lab. He has previously interned with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City and the Naval Research Laboratory in Monterey, California, where he will return for another summer before pursuing his PhD in atmospheric science at the University of Colorado Boulder. He is currently the president of the American Meteorological Society chapter at Georgia Tech, also known as Storm Club. In his free time, he enjoys running, playing video games, exploring new food, and watching sports, especially Atlanta United.

Congratulations, Daniel!

Need some extra oxygen in your life? 🌿 Or just looking for a chill way to de-stress? Come hang out with some plants!

We’ve got an abundance of greenery ready to find new homes, courtesy of the plant library. Stop by this Friday from 3:30–4:30 PM in CULC 357 and grab one (or a few 😉).

6. Polka Dot Plant
7. Cilantro

* many houseplants are toxic to pets, including English Ivy, Wintercreeper, Pothos, and Coleus. Polka Dot Plants ( #6) and Cilantro ( #7) are considered non-toxic to pets by the ASPCA.

† English Ivy ( #1) and Wintercreeper ( #2) are invasive plants in this area. These cuttings were pulled from near the Kendeda Building by Students Organizing for Sustainability/Ivy Pull. These are fantastic low-maintenance houseplants; do not plant them outside.

Over spring break, our Geophysical Field Methods students embarked on an unforgettable journey to the Mojave Desert, where science met adventure for their capstone quest. Student were tasked with mapping the rugged terrain of Harvard Hill, California as well as looking for faults or biomarkers in the field using four geophyiscal techniques (GPR, Seismic, Drone, & Magnetometer).

Students did an amazing job managing the hotter than normal conditions in the field and a huge thanks to the CSU Desert Studies Center for hosting our group!
