For a quick overview of the book, here’s a Q&A with Dr. Hankla: https://t.gsu.edu/3M0kpWR

ICePP was thrilled to host the 2024 Public Finance Conference last week in honor of the remarkable career of its founding director, Jorge Martinez-Vazquez.

With over 40 years of transformative work in fiscal decentralization and academia, Dr. Martinez’s impact on economic theory, real-world policy, and the careers of countless students is unparalleled.

This conference provided an intimate setting for experts, friends, and colleagues from around the world to reflect on his contributions and engage in forward-thinking discussions about the evolving landscape of decentralization as well as the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Thanks for everything, Dr. Martinez!

How a country organizes its public finances forms the basis for local authorities prioritizing city, town, and village services. While national governments are responsible for designing and supervising a large-scale functional system, local authorities are challenged to use their often-limited resources to deliver better local services. Our virtual Fiscal Decentralization and Local Governance course, July 3-14, 2023, enables participants to decide how best to spend their allocated and self-generated resources, ensuring a more inclusive response to citizens’ needs.

Registration closes June 28, 2023. Find more details at https://t.gsu.edu/3CqH1so
