We will have catering from Fox Bros Barbeque. Alumni of the Georgia Tech Chapter of Delta Upsilon Fraternity, spouses, significant others, and family are invited.

Brothers,

Greetings! We hope you are well and are keeping safe. We would like to take a moment to update you about the status of the chapter and alumni events in this unusual semester.

The chapter is fairing very well in the face of COVID-19. While you may have heard adverse news about other Greek organizations at Tech, our chapter house has had zero cases since on-campus instruction resumed a few weeks ago. We would like to take this opportunity to applaud the undergrads for doing the hard work necessary to keep the virus contained and set a great example for their peers.

We would also like to update you on the status of our normal Fall alumni events. With tailgating banned and stadium capacity severely limited, the undergraduate chapter and the alumni board have made the unfortunate decision not to host any homecoming events this year. We are greatly saddened that we will not be able to see y'all in person this year, and hope to do a make-up event in the spring.

We will be having an alumni career night over zoom this semester. We need alumni volunteers to help us out with this one, and we will post the details here and in an email when the event is finalized.

Finally, we know most of you watch your mailboxes for our semesterly in-print newsletter. Sorry to say it will not be going out this semester due to financial uncertainty caused by COVID-19. Look for the next edition in the spring.

Hello, Alumni!

This past spring we held a mini career search advice session for the undergrads, and we'd love to do the same thing in the fall this year. We do not know when exactly we would like to hold the event yet but the all-majors career fair is 09/09/19 this year, so it would be sometime around then.

We need alumni volunteers who'd be willing to come out and talk about interview techniques, what they look for when they hire someone, general long or short-term career advice, or even someone who is looking to interview a couple potential interns! The undergrads are eager and excited for us to share our life experiences with them, and it's a lot of fun to help them out on their life's journey.

Carlos' memorial will be held at

2498 Pine Lake Rd
Tucker, GA

Tomorrow from 6-8PMish. It is hosted by his friends Tracie and Tony, and his younger sister Symone. Please bring a small dish to share or drinks, and outdoor seating of some kind if you can. It is a fairly small house according to the hosts. I plan to arrive at 6:30, the rest of you can come as you please. Afterwards, we will retreat to the house and say goodbye to Carlos in his home away from home.

Now on to the "business" end of things. Carlos' family could use some help in a few matters, they are listed below if you would like to give assistance:
> They need some help getting the legalease sorted out. Apparently Carlos didn't document much and his family is having some trouble proving that they are his next of kin. So if anyone knows any lawyers to recommend or perhaps pay for an hour or two of their time, the family would appreciate it.
> If anyone knows who Carlos' landlord was, the family needs to know that too. I know several you hung out at his house often and may have encountered the landlord at some point. Please let me know if you have any idea who that is.
> Donations to the funeral fund should be funneled through the me so we can just give them one check. Please venmo me or paypal the alumni club at [email protected] (or go to gtdualumni.org and click on the "pay for Tickets" button. It will send the money to the same place as paypaling the alumni directly).

Hello All,

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that mentor, friend, and brother Carlos Catlett (Honorary '08) passed away yesterday of a stroke. We are trying to host a get-together in his honor at the house this weekend, please let me know if you can make it so we know how many to expect. There is supposedly a official memorial hosted by the family but I do not know for sure that it is even happening or if non-family is welcome.

Ideally the schedule on Saturday would be to go to the official memorial first and then have a gathering at the house in Carlos' honor. Again, I do not know any of the details on the official memorial or if it is even happening. Regardless, we will certainly be doing something at DU, so please let me know your availability this weekend by replying to this post or via messenger. If I don't find out something soon about the official memorial we will scrap trying to go to that and just do something at DU.

I don't have many more details other than that, I just thought I should let you know. If/when I come upon any more details, I will pass them along.

This Sunday (4/14/19) we are hosting all the local alumni for a Casino night at the Delta Upsilon house starting at 7:30pm! We’ll be rolling out the red carpet so get dressed up in your suits and tuxes and get ready for a night full of poker, roulette, blackjack, and fun cocktails!

Hey everyone. Its St. Baldrick's season! On March 15th, Delta Upsilon Georgia Tech brothers will be shaving their heads for the St. Baldrick's Foundation for childhood cancer. We will be raising money from now until the day of the event, and would greatly appreciate any contributions you could make. This charity is incredibly important to the brotherhood, and we feel strong enough about it for more than half of us to go bald for the next few months following the event. If you are considering donating any amount, large or small, know that we will be incredibly appreciative and and that it will go towards a fantastic cause.
