Samantha is a student pursuing bachelor’s degrees in Industrial Engineering and Applied Languages and Intercultural Studies. She is this year’s recipient of the Outstanding Senior in German Award!
“Being surrounded by this community is the best thing that’s happened to me at Tech! Although initially unplanned, the German language and community that Georgia Tech School of Modern Languages encourages has changed my life. And I’m not exaggerating! After every German class or intercultural event, I leave with an even greater passion for further immersing myself and a newfound sense of confidence for what I’m capable of. This is a product of the intentional care, kindness, and passion of each faculty member, staff member, and student. Everyone shows up because they want to learn and grow, and being surrounded by that mindset is incredible. It’s the heart of the School of Modern Languages. Everyone chooses to come to class and do the work because they want to genuinely learn and grow, and they place value in it. Being surrounded by that kind of mindset is incredible — the heart of the School of Modern Languages. All glory to God for letting me be a small part of this amazing work! Excited to use the language, culture, and intercultural competence in the workplace and beyond!”
“From early on, the German language and culture have been a pivotal part of my life, transforming the way I think and perceive throughout my daily life, in current events, and in life around the world. Going from a minor to a double major, I’ve had countless invaluable experiences interactively in the classroom, including living abroad with the German Language for Business and Technology program in Austria and Germany, building a local community in church and while working at a bistro in Vienna, representing Georgia Tech at the German American National Conference at Harvard, and getting to be a role model for incoming Modern Languages students.”
Congratulations, Samantha!
