Dr. Nazia Hoque was awarded the highly competitive Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellowship. She was one of only five recipients from Bangladesh, a nation of about 180 million people. We are happy to announce Dr. Vivian Liao has been appointed the College of Pharmacy's new Director of Clinical Skills and Simulation.

As pharmacy education continues to evolve, preparing practice-ready graduates is more critical than ever. Clinical skills and simulation are at the heart of that mission, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice, equipping students for experiential learning, licensure, and the demands of contemporary pharmacy care.

In her new role, Dr. Liao will:

✅ Lead the integration of clinical skills and simulation across the PharmD curriculum
✅ Support faculty development initiatives
✅ Oversee skills mapping and assessment
✅ Ensure alignment with ACPE Standards 2025 and our College Educational Program Outcomes

Dr. Liao's dedication to student success, innovative teaching, and collaborative leadership make her exceptionally well-suited for this role. We are confident her vision and energy will elevate skills-based education and strengthen our students' readiness for practice.

We're proud to announce some amazing achievements by students in Dr. Clinton Canal’s lab.

Thomas Tyler Dick, a PharmD/PhD student, earned 3rd place in the International American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics - ASPET Toxicology Division poster competition at this year’s conference. His award-winning poster, titled “Target Mechanisms Underlying Xylazine-Induced Skin Lesions in Rats,” was co-authored by Tyler Dick, Mary Vu, Nader Moniri, and Clinton Canal.

In addition, PharmD/PhD student India Rayne Breuer was selected to attend the prestigious Stanford University SPRINT Behavioral Analysis Workshop. This highly competitive program provides advanced training in quantitative behavioral tracking and neural data integration through Stanford Medicine’s Neurobehavior and Neuroscience Methods Workshop.
