Founded in 1903, Mercer University College of Pharmacy has a long legacy of training future pharmacists and cutting-edge research. We offer doctoral degrees in pharmacy (PharmD), master's of science in health outcomes and pharmaceutical sciences (MS and PhD). Located in dynamic, diverse Atlanta, Mercer is uniquely situated for our students to take

advantage of the many hospital systems, companies, government agencies, and research centers based here. With an enrollment of more than 500 students and a distinguished faculty of scientists and clinicians, the College houses seven centers focusing on research, teaching, and learning. College of Pharmacy student pharmacist Gabriella Esquivel ('29) was recognized with third place in the Student Poster Competition at the National Pharmaceutical Association (NPhA) Annual Convention, held recently in Bethesda, Maryland.

Gabriella presented her research, “Antiplatelet Therapy Nonadherence in Black CHD Patients,” highlighting an important issue in medication adherence and cardiovascular health. She credits Dr. Kenric Ware for his contributions to the research.

Her accomplishments at this year’s NPhA conference extend beyond her research presentation. Gabriella also:

• Participated in the SNPhA Leadership Academy
• Earned her Social Determinants of Health Certification
• Received the Dr. Adrian & Ptosha Washington Endowed Scholarship
• Stepped forward as a P2 student pharmacist candidate for National Recording Secretary, sharing her passion, ideas, and vision with SNPhA members nationwide

Mercer's Next Step Program is just one way we guide P4 students into a post-graduation career.

Of the 43 participants, 38 have reported securing a residency, fellowship, or employment upon graduation, including 22 students who secured a PGY1 residency match. This is a testament to Mercer's commitment to providing an education that gives our students job-ready skills upon graduation.
