Emory's Office of  Government and Community Affairs OGCA serves as the voice of Emory University with all elected and appointed officials at the local, state and federal levels of government.

We serve as Emory's voice with all elected and appointed officials at the local, state, and federal levels of government, proactively and effectively influencing public policy that affects academic and medical research, higher education and health care, students and patients. We actively seek to expand and strengthen partnerships with local community and neighborhood organizations on a variety of issues of mutual interest.

Earlier this month, Representative John Lewis was in Washington DC at the Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture to celebrate Emory University School of Law's 100th year!

Emory Law's chair honoring U.S. Rep. John Lewis has been fully funded, allowing the school to conduct a national search for a scholar who will focus on areas "where racial discrimination persists."

Mark your calendars literature lovers: Critically acclaimed writer Junot Díaz will give a talk and sign books at on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. Díaz is the author of the 2007 novel "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao," which won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction and the National Book Critics Circle Award.
