Theta Chi Fraternity at Georgia Tech

Theta Chi Fraternity at Georgia Tech The Alpha Nu Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity is a Brotherhood bound together by the values of truth, temperance, and tolerance.

Since its founding in 1856, Theta Chi Fraternity has grown to more than 244 Chapters and colonies across North America and has initiated over 185,000 Brothers. The Alpha Nu Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity was founded at Georgia Tech in 1923 and in the almost 100 years since, our Fraternity has been building Resolute Men in all areas of life. Our desire to become better men begins with our commitme

nt to scholarship at Georgia Tech and includes leadership, philanthropy, personal & professional development and of course, Brotherhood. Our academic standing on campus is strong; we’ve been working hard to achieve our scholarship goals and consistently have a Chapter GPA that meets or exceeds the IFC’s All-Men’s average GPA. On campus, our Brothers are leaders in a number of organizations, including FASET Orientation, Greek Week, the Interfraternity Council, GT Student Foundation, GT Student Ambassadors, the Student Government Association, and many other student organizations. Additionally, we have quickly become leaders in the Greek community and campus-wide in mental health advocacy. Our Brothers are involved as Well-Being Activators, Healthy Jacket Peer Educators and activists in the Mental Health Student Coalition and in these roles, they have played a big part in bringing QPR suicide-prevention sessions to the Greek community, played an instrumental role in the planning and execution of Georgia Tech’s first Intercollegiate Mental Health Conference and continue to work with the Interfraternity Council and Georgia Tech administration to develop and implement new initiatives. Socially, we continue to have a packed calendar semester after semester, highlighted by a number of Brotherhood and date events, mixers, parties and out-of-house events like Mountain Weekend, Beach Weekend and our Red Carnation Formal each spring. In three of the past four years, we have also been winners of Georgia Tech’s annual Greek Week competition. In philanthropy and service, in recent years we have formed partnerships with Lifeline Animal Project, Foster Georgia Tech, United Service Organizations, Trees Atlanta and Rise Against Hunger. Our local philanthropy, The Shirlock Foundation, was formed to provide financial assistance for families of college students fighting cancer following the death of local Alpha Nu Brother Jonathan Shirlock after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Many of our philanthropy and social events are held at our Chapter house on Techwood Drive. Built in 2003, the Alpha Nu house is able to comfortably house forty-four Brothers and boasts being one of only two houses on campus that enjoys a heated swimming pool. Amid all these different facets, Theta Chi is a place to grow and create a bond of Brotherhood that lasts a lifetime. We are ordinary men doing extraordinary things.

2020/2021 Blue Scholarship recipient Charlie Ye (Alpha Nu/Georgia Tech 2021) is a senior majoring in Computer and Information Sciences with a minor in Business. In 2019, he became a UN Millennium Fellow, co-leading a project called Share Your Stem to help bring Georgia Tech students to low-income middle and high school students to share their experiences and inspire them to pursue STEM careers. “This scholarship means a lot because of how much my Theta Chi experience has meant to me during my college career, and how much I've grown and learned as a result of my time with the Alpha Nu Chapter.”
