The Center for Mind, Brain, and Culture (CMBC) of Emory College was founded in 2007, and the first Director and Associate Director were appointed in the spring of 2008. The CMBC moved into its current facility in the Psychology and Interdisciplinary Sciences Building in 2009. The CMBC’s activities and programming have been funded primarily by a grant from the Dean of Emory College. The Center has

also received support from the Emory University Subvention Fund, the Computational and Life Sciences Initiative, the Neuroscience Initiative, the Emory Cognition Project, the Departments of Psychology and Anthropology, the Laney Graduate School at Emory University, the Hightower Fund, and the American Academy of Religion. Congrats to one of our fantastic Undergraduate Fellows a superstar in the Emory University Program in Linguistics, Deanna Sharpe. Deanna received the 2026 Award for Excellence in Spanish and Linguistics! AND presented her research, titled “Accent and Dialect Acquisition among Children with Autism Exposed to In-Home Social Language Variation,” at the Mellon Mays Spring Research Conference on Friday, April 10, 2026.
