The University System of Georgia, a part of the community in each of Georgia’s 159 counties, provides services across the state. A proven leader who delivers results, Dr. Green most recently served at Gordon State College, where his focus on the student experience catalyzed enrollment growth and helped the college surpass many strategic objectives a year ahead of schedule. USG’s Board of Regents has named Dr. Donald J. Green as the sole finalist for president of Valdosta State University. Green, currently the president of Gordon State College, has nearly 36 years of higher education experience, 10 of which are within the system. Under his leadership, GSC this fall awarded 19% more degrees than the previous year and improved retention by 11 percentage points.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Chancellor Perdue's longtime colleague and friend, Congressman David Scott.
They shared over 30 years of history, from the Georgia State Senate to their work together in Washington. The congressman was a man of his word who never let politics get in the way of doing what was right for our farmers and land-grant universities.
