Regular Communication Tonight, Gate City Lodge #2 had the honor and privilege of conducting a Fellowcraft Degree for five Entered Apprentice candidates as they were passed to the degree of Fellowcraft. These candidates came from three separate lodges (Gate City Lodge #2, Atlanta Peachtree Lodge # 59 and Piedmont Lodge #447) and brethren from many lodges were present to share in this meaningful experience together.

Freemasonry is a journey of personal growth, education, brotherhood, and service. Each degree represents another step forward in a man’s pursuit of knowledge, self-improvement, and a deeper understanding of the principles that unite us: brotherly love, morality and relief. Seeing brethren come together from different lodges to support and encourage these candidates is a powerful reminder that Freemasonry is far greater than any one lodge — it is a worldwide fraternity built upon friendship, character, and unity.

The Fellowcraft Degree especially encourages the pursuit of learning, wisdom, and the development of both the mind and character. Tonight’s degree was not only a memorable experience for the candidates, but also for every brother in attendance who was reminded of the lessons and obligations that continue to guide us in our daily lives.

“How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” Those words were truly reflected tonight through the fellowship shared among the brethren gathered at Gate City Lodge #2.

If this sounds like a journey you would like to learn more about, we invite you to join us for dinner and fellowship. Gate City Lodge #2 meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month (except June, July, August, and December), with dinner served at 6:30 PM at the Atlanta Masonic Center.

Freemasonry welcomes good men who seek to become better men through fellowship, service, moral teachings, and lifelong learning. We would be honored to meet you, answer your questions, and share more about the fraternity and the work we do in our community.

Today, brothers of Gate City Lodge #2 came together in the true spirit of charity and service during today’s Feed the City event. Through teamwork, dedication, and brotherly love, we helped prepare and distribute 512 lunches for food-insecure members of our community.

Charity is one of the greatest principles we can practice — not only in word, but through action. Every meal prepared today was a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.

We are proud to stand together in service to others and grateful for everyone who gave their time and effort to support this important cause.

“Not every hero wears a cape — sometimes they wear an apron.”

Regular Communication Another outstanding evening at Gate City Lodge #2 as we gathered in Regular Communication for a night centered on growth, recognition, and fellowship.

Congratulations to our two Entered Apprentice Masons who were examined on their proficiency this evening as they continue their journey in search of more Light. Your dedication and hard work are to be commended.

We were also honored to present our Immediate Past Worshipful Master Loren "Derf" Ivie with his Past Master’s apron in recognition of his faithful leadership and service to the lodge over the past year. Thank you for your steady guidance and commitment to the Craft.

Nights like tonight remind us of the true meaning of Brotherly Love, fellowship, and the enduring bonds of Freemasonry.

At Gate City Lodge #2, becoming a Master Mason is about far more than learning ritual — it is about learning service, compassion, and humanity.

As part of their journey, our Entered Apprentice candidates recently participated in a social service project supporting Books to Africa, helping provide books to communities where access to education is incredibly limited. Imagine a place where there is only ONE book for every 30 people. Pause and truly ponder that ratio.

Now place yourself in the position of a child on the receiving end. What is it like to be a poor child… or a sick child… without access to books, imagination, knowledge, or opportunity? Adults may understand that resources exist to improve their situation — children often do not. A single book can inspire hope, open minds, and change the course of a young life forever.

We are proud of our candidates for embracing the true spirit of Freemasonry through charity, service, and care for others.

If this sounds like a journey you'd like to be a part of, why not join us for dinner and learn more? We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month (except June, July, August, and December) for dinner at 6:30 PM with a stated communication to follow. Meetings are held at the historic Atlanta Masonic Center, 1690 Peachtree St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30309 - across from the Amtrak station. Come meet the Brethren, ask questions, and explore what Masonry can mean for you.

Tonight at Gate City Lodge #2, we had the honor of Dr. Gordon Morrow giving a powerful educational program in recognition of National Doctors’ Day.

First observed in 1933, this day commemorates the first successful use of general anesthesia in surgery—a milestone that transformed medicine forever.

Dr. Morrow’s presentation highlighted not only the incredible advancements in healthcare, but also the compassion, dedication, and service that define the medical profession.

As Masons, we take pride in recognizing those who work tirelessly to improve the lives of others—and tonight was a meaningful tribute to physicians everywhere.

Thank you, Dr. Morrow, and to all doctors for your commitment to healing and humanity.
