Welcome Incoming and Current MPHers and Inspiring Public Health Students:
My name is Jenniffer Stetler and I am the president of Association of Chronic Disease Awareness (ACDA) at Georgia State University. ACDA is a student chapter of National Association of Chronic Disease Directors and the GSU chapter is the first student chapter in the country. Though our organization has only been on the campus for few years, we have been successful in promoting increased awareness about chronic diseases, particularly as a result of our annual Chronic Disease Day. In the past year, our Chronic Disease Day was part of National Public Health Week Event and our event featured a career panel that included Dr. Asheligh May, (an epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity) and Ms. Stephaine Matthews (Director of Human Resources at the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence).
We look forward to the April 4, 2016 Chronic Disease Day, which will include a poster competition and a panel discussion about careers in chronic diseases. Additionally, this semester will work with undergraduates to raise awareness about Lupus. We will attend the Student Organization Fair this Tuesday from 11 am to 2 pm and look forward to meeting the new and current MPH students.
Welcome to GSU and look forward to seeing you at future ACDA events!
Sincerely,
Jenniffer Stetler
ACDA President
