How do different leadership styles impact safety performance?

This is a question 2023 alum, Dr. Michelle Payne, under the guidance of Dr. Peter Zhang, explored through groundbreaking research on safety leadership, which is now published in the National Safety Council's Journal of Safety Research.

Key Findings Include:
✅ Leadership styles aren't one-size-fits-all—they work best when adapted to specific situations
✅ Effective safety leadership requires flexibility and drawing from multiple proven strategies
✅ Context matters: Different approaches influence safety behaviors in different environments
✅ Workplace safety is a shared responsibility requiring active participation at all levels

Dr. Payne's research demonstrates how leaders who prioritize employee safety, respond promptly to concerns, and value worker input create stronger safety cultures and more engaged teams.

➡️ You may also wish to read Dr. Payne's interview in Safety+Health to discover how this research is directly improving workplace safety outcomes. https://www.safetyandhealthmagazine.com/articles/27459-on-research-whats-the-relationship-between-safety-leadership-style-and-safety-performance

This is the power of DBA scholarship in action—rigorous research that transforms practice! 🎓
