The annual Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech Washington, DC Career Visit was held this past Thursday, March 3rd, and Friday, March 4th, and twelve students from the Nunn School, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, and Industrial Engineering participated. This Career Visit is a signature of our career development program, designed to provide students with connections to professional networks and exposure to organizations active in international affairs. On Thursday, students were introduced to the leadership of The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), which offered insight on the think tank ecosystem and foreign policy. The day ended with a panel discussion of Nunn School alumni who took questions and offered advice on working in Washington, the importance of networking, and the skills and competencies often valued in early career opportunities. On Friday, the students spent the day at CSIS | Center for Strategic & International Studies, where they engaged with experts and researchers in a lively Q&A on Russia and Ukraine and discussed trends and analysis for the future in sessions on international development, nuclear proliferation, and diplomacy. Students also completed informational interviews with local area alumni before returning to Atlanta. Our thanks to IISS, CSIS, GT Federal Relations, and our wonderful alumni, for ensuring the students had a very rewarding trip.
