As I complete my last day as President of the Student Health Informatics Association at Georgia State University, I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for trusting me to lead this organization, thank you for supporting our efforts, thank you for participating in our events and thank you for being wonderful additions to the Health Informatics program. We accomplished so much this year, and the new Executive Board is going to achieve even more. I am excited to see what Saadiya Deane, David Michaud, Angel Graham, and Jada Hargrove will do as they lead S.H.I.A. for the next year. They are an excellent group, and I ask that our members embrace and support them, the way you have the graduating Executive Board.
I am especially thankful to have served with our other officers, T**e Atijosan, Charles Langley and Catherine Jones. S.H.I.A. was well served by these incredible people. Thank you for all your hard work, for your friendship, and for the laughs even through our growing pains. I wish each of you the very best and can't wait to see where your incredibly bright futures take each of you!
Thank you to our Cohort Liaisons Jenae and Andrew for being the voice of your cohorts and making sure they were represented. Best of luck in all that you do.
Our Committee Chairs and Co-chairs have been dedicated and fantastic additions to the organizational leadership. Thank you, Jada, Jori, Jay, Natasha, Shivani, Thidalack, Christie, Amber, Talore, and Nura for taking on these roles. You leave big shoes to fill and high standards to be exceeded.
To those members graduating this spring and summer, the very best on the career search. May each of you find your dream job! To those graduating at a future time, embrace the opportunity before you - graduation will be here before you know it!
Thank you to Dr. Cedric Truss and Dr. Tanisha McGlothen for your wisdom, advice, and patience. Thank you also for allowing us the freedom to learn and to make mistakes.
Lastly, but certainly not least, thank you, Dr. Lowell Sanders. You have been the most incredible faculty advisor. You trusted us as students to actually run this organization, you allowed us to grow in our abilities, you picked us up when we faltered and praised us for our successes. Your guidance has been invaluable. You have truly been an incredible teacher, advisor, and mentor. S.H.I.A. is immensely fortunate to have you as their fiercest and most invested supporter.
I have been blessed and proud to serve as S.H.I.A. president. I am a little sad to complete this chapter but beyond excited to start the next. Best of luck to each of you. I offer one last and final THANK YOU! Go Panthers!
