This week, we celebrated the EXCEL Program’s Class of 2026 during a milestone year: 10 years of EXCEL at Georgia Tech!

Over the past decade, the program has grown and evolved, and the Class of 2026 represents that progress—students who have taken full advantage of their time at Georgia Tech, built independence, gained real‑world experience, and formed strong connections across campus.

Congratulations to the EXCEL Class of 2026 - Braden Bartels, Chatman Ecker, Griffin Hatcher, Claire Hummel, Emma Oberle, Itzel Ocampo,, and Theodore Oldham.

You carry forward the legacy of the past 10 years, and we’re excited to see where you go next.

✨ EXCEL students are helping shape the future of learning tech at Georgia Tech!
CEISMC learning scientist Eunhye Grace Flavin and ECE professor Matthew Flavin brought a prototype wearable haptic device to Georgia Tech’s EXCEL Program, giving students a hands-on opportunity to explore how vibration-based technology could support learning, accessibility, and reduce math anxiety.
Students shared powerful feedback—many said the device felt calm, soothing, and relaxing, and could help them manage stress in the classroom. Their insights are now helping researchers improve and personalize this technology. Read more: https://excel.gatech.edu/excel-work-with-researchers-haptic-device
