In July 2016, Rochelle Lindsey and Samantha Briggs were asked to discuss ways Alumnae women could engage young ladies attending Clark Atlanta University. Additionally, many felt Alumni needed another way to feel invested and connected to CAU, while making a lasting impact on students. The Women of CAU - Alumni Affiliate was created to support the journey of young ladies attending Clark Atlanta Uni
versity. The vision for the affiliate was to develop opportunities for Alumnae women to give, serve, engage and support these young ladies in several key areas: personal, professional, academically and socially. On July 31, 2017, several women gathered to discuss the purpose and need for the Women of CAU - Alumni Affiliate. The excitement for Alumnae women bonding together to provide wisdom, encouragement, and support to young scholars was beyond imaginable and believed to be a need worth fulfilling. On August 7, 2017, twelve women decided to move into action and make this dream a reality. Henceforth, confirming the founding members and electing officers. On September 18, 2017, the final three members were elected by the founding members and the purpose, mission, and goals were solidified. During the same month, a formal application was submitted to the National Alumni Association for consideration to be recognized as an official Alumni Affiliate. On Friday, October 20, 2017, at Holly Hill, on Clark Atlanta University's campus, 15 women stood taken the oath to be dedicated and faithful to the goals, purpose, and mission of the Women of CAU - Alumni Affiliate. The Women of CAU - Alumni Affiliate became the 10th Affiliate charted under the National Alumni Association.
