I wanna be a commercial pilot. Before I came here I was in a Navy doing aircraft mechanics . The military pays for my tuition here but its a 4 year program, like I have to do undergrad again. it’s kindda weird being back in school again but I really enjoy it. Being around young people again. Personally I think people are good every religion, race, and stuff. I want people to be free to do anything they want. Freedom I guess. Three words that describe myself I guess musical, excited, and love. Can not forget love. (Spring 2022, interviewed by Lewiz)

There is a certain adrenaline in work. It’s hard to describe but even you are an athlete on the team and, while you don’t work hard as others, you still get the same feeling. My dream job would be a photographer in NBA or NFL. One of the things that I kinda model as I take on my freshmen year of college is a quote from Rocky Baloa ‘One step at a time, One Punch at a time, One round at a time’ you know it still on my phone’s lock-screen. “In Auburn, I like the different variety of people. There are a lot more ideas and a lot more people because where I grew up it was a lot of similar minded, like you’d get in a high school clique and you’re all kind of there together. So you all have different ideas but also very similar ideas, but here you can find a lot wider range of people of ideas, which is interesting to me and I enjoy that. The most interesting idea I’ve come across? It’s hard to say. I have two ways of looking at that. The more humorous one was when I had an interesting discussion with a flat earther. It was weird. I found it very humorous, but I took them very seriously and tried to not go against them at all. Not agree with them, but see their side. It was funny but I very much disagree with everything that they said. One thing that has really changed my mind has been how different ethnic groups view the world because I have not seen it through that view. Its interesting to see the different struggles that everyone grew up with.” (Spring 2022, Interviewed by Garrett Martínez and Lewiz)

“When I was a senior in high school, my band went on a trip to DC for the Military Bowl. We went to the National Cemetery, and I was the drum major for my high school band, and the other two bands that were there, all the drums majors got together and laid the wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier. It was really scary because it was a really prestigious thing to do. On top of that, I was with the soldier who doesn’t talk and doesn’t move, so it was a little nerve-racking, to say the least, but that has to be the coolest thing I’ve ever done.” (Interviewed by Kristen Abernathy, Spring 2022)

“Well ya know, I wanna design something and I honestly, this is kind of crazy, but I think I wanna design sports cars. But like environmentally friendly sports cars. I just think cars are so cool. Im gonna get hate, but I really like Teslas. I don’t like Elon Musk, but I really like the look of the cars. But honestly I’d really like to own an Audi. I’d be happy designing anything, that’d be the dream.” (Interviewed by Garrett Martinez, spring 2022)

“I got a kitten in October. It was the cutest little black kitten and I named her Gypsy, after my favorite band, Fleetwood Mac. She was really great, but I started feeling really bad all the time. I was shadowing at a vet at the time because I was Pre-Vet, and I was feeling bad at the vet too. I just thought that I was sick, but the doctor said that I was fine. I talked to my mom and she said that I was probably allergic to cats. So, I’m allergic to cats. I ended up giving the kitten to a girl that goes here, but I still wanted an animal. I feel like it gives me something to take care of and something to do. So, I brought my family dog to college. She’s getting old and she’s having some health issues. I didn’t want her to pass away while I was gone. I’m just a freshman so I’ll be here for a while.” (Interviewed by Elisa Berry and Krishna Patel, Spring 2022)

“Especially when you're young, and just getting into college, no one knows who they are yet. Even when you leave college, you probably wont know entirely. It's hard to figure out who you are when you're trying to be someone else. So my biggest advice would be … just try things that you’re scared to try or intrigued by, that maybe seems out of the box and weird. You may think ‘if I wear this around campus, everybody is going to look at me funny’. In reality, no one knows, and the most you'll get is someone complimenting you. I’d say be brave in your fashion choices and wear what you want, and what makes you feel the most comfortable and like yourself. Even now, as I change as a person, I want my clothes to reflect the changes that I’ve made in my personality and my mental state as well. At the end of the day, it's all about what you feel the best in and what makes you the most confident.”

“If I could do anything right now, I don’t know. In all reality, I’d probably go take a nap. It depends on the mood of the day, like today is a ‘No Bones’ day. So, it kind of sounds like a nap kind of day. It’s funny when it is a test day and it’s a ‘No Bones’ day because it’s just like, if that is what Noodle the pug wants, that is what Noodle the pug wants. A ‘No Bones’ day means that I can cut myself some slack.”

“I didn’t really grow up anywhere because my dad was in the Air Force. We have lived in Virginia, New Mexico, and I was born in Ohio. When I moved here, I started picking up on the southern accent, like I say ‘y’all’ all the time now. I’ll say a word and I’ll just be like “woah, that was really southern.” My older sister doesn’t have that, she has more of a New England way of saying things, which is weird because we never lived in New England. She says certain words in a funny way and my family will just ask her, “Where did you get that? We’ve never lived there.” It’s weird because I say some words southern and some words in a different accent. We had someone visiting us from the New England area a couple years after we moved here, and she told me that I had a southern accent. So, apparently, I sound southern to non-southerners.”

“I had cancer my senior year of highschool, and it was one of the biggest aspects of my life. I went through chemo all throughout my senior year of highschool and I made it into Auburn and moved here as soon as I was cancer free. It really shaped me as a person and made me a lot stronger, and kinda changed my perspective on the world I would say. I was also basically bald my freshman year here, and it’s freeing in a way because you don't have to worry about fixing your hair, but it also makes you more confident. You have to focus on other aspects of yourself and I think it just makes you feel more beautiful.
Now, I am definitely more grateful about life and the smaller aspects of life. I think when you’re a teenager, you don't really appreciate what's going on, and I think I became a lot more mindful and aware of my surroundings, more specifically what's happening around me and in the world. I've also enjoyed participating in more activities instead of just sitting around on my phone. I'm just grateful for the experiences that I have because I know that there was a big chance that I might have not been here today.”

“Together with my business partner and my partners up in Birmingham, we built something that I hope is unique, at least in our area, because I want to have a space where anyone can come to find a community, make a community, be a part of something bigger than themselves, or a place where they can feel at home. That’s what I hope Gear Gaming is. One of our community members was robbed at gunpoint. He lives in a different city but regularly comes here and plays. He messaged the Discord and let us know that he wasn’t able to play anymore because his car was stolen and all his models were in his car. Everyone was like “no no, we got you.” People in our store community started rallying together: people started bringing in models, money, and they started an account for him, so he could rebuy everything he lost. Some people even helped build and paint some of the models that he lost and gave it to him. That’s what it’s about. It’s not a necessity, it's a luxury. It’s an afterthought from your everyday stuff, but we all know the joy it brings with the games we sell and that's why we do it. When something happens to one of us, it happens to all of us. We’re going to take care of our own -- always. If you walk into those doors and you play a game with us, you are part of our community. Whether you’ve grown up never playing a game -- not even Monopoly -- to the guy who has played games since he was six years old because his mom and dad were dungeon masters. Those guys and those guys are part of the same community here.”

“We actually grew up 30 minutes away from each other, were in the same major, and didn’t know it. Through an internship in South Dakota is actually where we met each other and became best friends, and we worked our butts off, and understood each others work style, and meshed well together. We’re learning a lot about each other and how we want to run our business.

We want our business to be where it’s warm, and the company we had our internship with actually has lodges all over the states and world, and we’ve has the privilege to go visit some of them and see how they do things differently from lodge to lodge. So we just have to figure out what we want to do with out lodge and then go from there!”
