Last month, our Social Media & PR class had the opportunity to hear from Josh Till, Director of Communications and Marketing for the American Heart Association in Birmingham. He shared valuable insights on how nonprofits can authentically connect with and engage their audiences.

Grateful for the chance to learn from real-world experience and apply it beyond the classroom.

🧡 STUDY ABROAD SPOTLIGHT 🧡

What better way to travel the world and further your education than studying abroad? In the summer of 2026, Auburn’s Public Relations program is hosting a four-week study abroad trip in Seville, Spain! Two classes are offered. Ethics in PR and Professional Communication in Spain led by Dr. Brunner and PR in Spain: Sports and Travel by Professor Reid. The program offers many opportunities for students to explore with courses taught four days a week, long weekends to allow time for travel and plenty of excursions.

💙Auburn PR Day Recap 💙

The biannual PR Day was a success! PR Day was a great opportunity for The Oaks Agency members to learn more about effective client relations. The program began with a presentation led by Pam Powers-Smith, president and CEO of the Rome Floyd Chamber of Commerce, titled Client Relations 101, and followed by an in-depth panel conversation. The panel members were Campbell Govignon, account executive at BBDO; Chelsea Grund, social media director at UPS; and Tuan Huynh, vice president of the PR agency Melissa Libby & Associates; they addressed effective ways to communicate with clients, and an open Q&A session with the attendees followed by breakout sessions for networking opportunities.

Auburn Public Relations looks forward to the next PR Day this fall!

Tip Tuesday 🐅✨
Start building your PR portfolio earlier than you think…
Your portfolio doesn’t begin with your first internship,it starts in the classroom. Class projects, campaign plans, writing samples, social media content, and even group work all count. Save your work as you go, keep track of the results when you can, and reflect on what you learned from each project.

When internship and job opportunities come up, you’ll be glad you already have examples of your skills ready to share!
