Cheers to an exceptional Level 1 Court of Master Sommelier Examination weekend at the Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management! 🍷👏
Over two intensive days, our undergraduate and graduate students, along with faculty members, completed the Level 1 Court of Master Sommelier Examination!
This is a rigorous, fast-paced professional development experience focused on wine, spirits, beer, and saké, strengthening participants’ understanding of major wine regions, elevated service standards, and reinforced deductive tasting techniques essential to beverage leadership.
We are especially proud to recognize graduate students Julianna Haase and Caroline Shubert, who tied for the top scores during this weekend’s evaluation, an outstanding accomplishment among a highly competitive cohort.
Participants were guided by Master Sommeliers Pablo Braida and David Reuss, alongside our in-house Master Sommelier and adjunct faculty member, Thomas Price, whose expertise and mentorship helped refine tasting and service skills while building professional confidence.
