✨ Get to Know Mariana Caleano!
Hello everyone! Today, I want to highlight the winner of our 2024 Virtual Korean Speech Contest. Contestants were divided into beginner and intermediate levels based on their skills. Their task was to write and memorize a 4-minute speech in Korean and answer two questions. This year we had many great applicants, but winner for the 2024 Virtual Speech Contest is Mariana Caleano.
1️⃣ About Me: Hi, I’m Mariana Caleano! I’m currently studying in the Conversation 3 Korean course.
2️⃣ What I Learned: Initially nervous about my first speech contest, I overcame my fear with support from my teachers and family. I learned that trying and enjoying the process is key. My tip for future participants: don’t be afraid to challenge yourself!
3️⃣ Why Korean? I started learning Korean to correctly pronounce my favorite K-Pop idols' names, but soon fell in love with the language, culture, and cuisine.
4️⃣ My Classes: I've taken Conversation 4 and now am in Conversation 3 at the Auburn Korea Center - King Sejong Institute.
5️⃣ Goals for South Korea: I’m excited to experience Korean culture firsthand—visit historic sites, try authentic cuisine, and practice Korean with native speakers.
6️⃣ What I’m Most Excited About: Meeting new people, making lasting memories, and immersing myself in the rich culture of South Korea! 🇰🇷✨
