Check-Out for Charity Check-Out for Charity We have essentially finalized our plans and will once again be partnering with Salvation Army and the Food Bank of East Alabama.

Auxiliary Enterprises/Housing Property Management will be conducting our 19th annual Check-Out-For-Charity event at the close of this semester. Additionally however, we will be adding Goodwill Industries as a partner this year. As in prior years, we will be placing a barrel in the lobby of each residence halls as a collection point for donations to the Food Bank (these contributions can include un

opened food items and household cleaning products, opened or unopened). Unlike previous years however, we are seeking to channel all contributions to Salvation Army and Goodwill Industries to locations outside of the residence halls. In effort to facilitate this, we will be setting up tents as drop points for these donations. the tents will be conveniently and centrally located and some will be in close proximity to available waste rolloff containers - to further encourage students to donate any usable items (furniture, appliances, clothing, linens, household items, etc) rather than depositing them in the dumpsters (where the eventual end will be a landfill). We will be placing signage in all Housing areas to announce and advertise the event. Tentative plans include set-up of tents and distributing Food Bank barrels on or about 25/26 April just prior to the last day of classes followed by "Study Day Drop Off" on Friday, 29 April from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and Saturday, 30 April from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. On the "Drop Off" days, we'll be supported by volunteers from the Office of Sustainability and hope that these days encourage students to "get a jump on" preparations for departing for the Summer by divesting themselves of items they won't be needing their last several days on campus. The event will continue throughout Finals and end on 09 May.

Tents for donations are going up today! Several donation tents will be located in our Hill, Quad, and Village residential areas. We will be taking donations until Monday, May 7th. We partner with Lee County Salvation Army Service Center, The Alabama Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Campus Kitchens, and the Campus Food Pantry. Please help us in supporting the local community.

Calling all volunteers! We are looking for volunteers for our annual Check Out for Charity event. During resident move-out in May, we receive many household goods and food donations. Volunteers needed May 3-6 to collect items for Check-Out for Charity – an event that collects donated household items from student move out to benefit the local community (and divert goods from the landfill). Campus Living Property Management conducts the annual event, partnering with the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Campus Kitchens and the Campus Food Pantry.
