The first full day of our United Kingdom Study Abroad trip is underway!

This morning, students explored the Dean Conservation Area in Edinburgh—an active part of the city where historic buildings are still lived in today.

Seeing how older structures are maintained and integrated into modern city life helps students better understand the real‑world challenges construction managers face when working in established built environments—and why conservation matters.

Where will they head next?

Charlotte McLaughlin has been riding horses since she was seven years old... now, as an senior, she balances her schoolwork with her place on Auburn University’s Equestrian team. 🏇

Between 6 a.m. workouts, afternoon riding sessions and her BSCI thesis project, McLaughlin depends on time management skills and discipline to study and work efficiently—but finding the fun in her coursework makes that easier. “Our coach always says, ‘Find joy’,” she said. “What helps so much with managing a busy school schedule is finding the things that you like doing.”
