We recently asked some of our College of Education alumni to share their answers to “Why I teach." The query is one Auburn College of Education Associate Professor David Marshall, along with Christopher Newport University Associate Professor Tim Pressley, recently asked of teachers nationally as part of a recent research project. Their work found that while teachers openly acknowledged concerns about workload, student behavior and administrative demands, they ultimately pointed to something more lasting: a clear sense of purpose. This post features how College of Education alumna Liz Smith answered the question.
