Auburn College of Education doctoral graduate Sara Ellison and faculty member Jill Meyer are among four scholars nationally recognized with an Outstanding Scholar Award from The Professional Counselor for research that is reshaping how mental health professionals understand self-injury. The award honors the co-authored study by Ellison (an adjunct faculty member at Auburn’s College of Education and the University of West Georgia), Meyer (a professor and director of Counselor Education at Auburn's College of Education), Julia Whisenhunt (a professor, assistant chair and program director at the University of West Georgia) and Jessica Meléndez Tyler (an associate professor at Vanderbilt University). The publication of their study’s findings in The Professional Counselor was selected as one of the TPC’s most outstanding articles of the year. Three students from Auburn’s College of Education were recently selected to be part of the Gogue Center Ambassadors organization for the 2026-2027 academic year. Lauren Anderson, a senior majoring in music education; Marielle Burque, a junior majoring in exercise performance and health optimization and minoring in dance; and Anna Daniels, a senior majoring in exercise science and minoring in dance, were chosen for the organization, which provides a leadership opportunity for Auburn students dedicated to serving the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center.
