The 2025 Auburn Meat Judging Team concluded their year of judging last week at the American Royal. The team was able to come home with a third place (tied for second) in lamb judging, and sixth place in placings. Cheyenne Weimer was tenth in specifications, and Sydney Caldwell was eighth in lamb judging.

We are so proud of this first team back! They have shown a great deal of passion, resilience, and intention.

Thank you so much to Nebraska Beef, Greater Omaha, and University of Nebraska Lincoln for hosting practice for our team. We also appreciate the committee, American Meat Science Association, and Nebraska Beef for putting on a great contest. Additionally, we are grateful for the support from the Auburn Department of Animal Science, family, and friends.

Team members included Sydney Caldwell, Sam Gullion, Cheyenne Weimer, and Sarah Williams. They were coached by graduate student Tessa Barrett and advised by Dr. Aeriel Belk.

🐅 Tiger Giving Day is coming soon! 🥩

On September 10, we invite you to join us in supporting the Auburn Meat Judging Program.

This program provides students with hands-on experience in meat science, while also building critical skills in communication, decision-making, and teamwork. Through judging contests and training, our students gain real-world preparation for careers in food science and beyond.

The Meat Judging Program is more than just a learning opportunity—it’s also a way to attract future students from across Alabama into agriculture degree programs. By engaging youth through competitions and outreach, we create a pathway for the next generation of leaders in agriculture and the meat industry.

Your support helps us prepare Auburn students for success, while also growing the pipeline of talent that strengthens our state’s agricultural economy.

👉 On September 10, join us in supporting the next generation of agricultural leaders through the Meat Judging Program!
