First ASHP accredited in 1975, academic medical center adult hospital, Children’s Hospital of Georgia, Georgia Cancer Center and more! Augusta University Pharmacy Residency Program graduates are making a difference in a variety of practice settings. Our residents graduate as competent, confident and compassionate pharmacy practitioners who are active members of the health care team and positioned
to be leaders in the profession. Augusta University Health and University of Georgia (UGA) College of Pharmacy preceptors consistently demonstrate commitment to the pharmacy profession and strive to help you develop and market career skills in the changing health care environment. Our history began when we were Medical College of Georgia Hospital (MCG Pharmacy Residency) and our pharmacy program has been ASHP accredited since 1975. UGA College of Pharmacy faculty members have been residency preceptors since the early years. Our residents receive a stipend as both full time AU Medical Center employees and UGA graduate students (with the exception of our Health-System Pharmacy Administration & Leadership residents who are Augusta University MBA students). Augusta University Pharmacy Residencies are 12-month ASHP accredited pharmacy residency programs. Residents are appointed as graduate teaching assistants for the College of Pharmacy and earn graduate school credit for components of the residency, including clinical pharmacy, teaching and research activities. UGA awards a graduate certificate for successful completion of the residency program. Applicants for the Augusta University Pharmacy Residency Program must be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Georgia at the start of the residency. We have six programs, each with competitive entry requirements and benefits:
