Spotlight: Graduating senior, Twila! Here are a few words from her: As a non-traditional student parent, I almost always struggled to manage my time between being a mom and also a student. My days as a student parent consisted of early mornings (commuting to and from Bastrop) and late nights, for studying and working on assignments. I also experienced mom guilt on a regular basis. I felt bad leaving my daughter, Vienna, with my mom while I went off to school, but I always knew she was in good hands. In the afternoons, I prioritized spending my time with Vienna over schoolwork and hence always had late nights. I definitely wish there were more accommodations for student parents or that the UT daycare was more accessible. Vienna was on the UT daycare waitlist for over a year and only recently a spot opened up for her, the same semester which I’m graduating in. My advice to other student parents is to not give up, it may seem impossible now but know that it gets better and well worth it in the end!
