The Alliance Against Seclusion and Restraint is partnering with a team from the University of Texas at Austin to launch a foundational research study on the long-term psychological impacts of physical restraint and seclusion. This study is unique in its focus on centering the voices of those who have lived through these experiences, such as those who were subjected to these practices in the troubled teen industry. If you feel comfortable and are over the age of 18, we encourage you to please fill out the survey. You can scan the QR code to access the survey or click the link: https://endseclusion.info/rssurvey

Honored to be a “rigor champion” in science for my teaching this topic UT Austin and for presenting some aspects of my course to the lay public - all to ultimately produce and consume “better science”. Happy to present more :-)

The NINDS Office of Research Quality seeks to promote research rigor and transparent reporting and to foster a culture of research quality within the scientific ecosystem. As part of this mission, NINDS launched the NINDS Rigor Champions Prize in 2023.

Decades into the war on drugs, neuroscientists are learning that punishing drug use may actually work against the goal of keeping teens or people with addiction away from drugs.  “Punishment seems logical on the surface,” said Micky Marinelli, an associate professor of neuroscience at UT A

Research shows that diversity in practitioners, researchers and leaders accelerates breakthroughs, reduces barriers faced by underrepresented minorities throughout society, and improves research and health outcomes across all populations. That’s why I’ve been volunteering with Women in Neuroscience for the past 3 years. Will you join me by making a donation today?
