This year's Mesoamerica Meetings wouldn't be possible without the tremendous support we receive from our event sponsors and event partners. We'd like to give a special shout out to Ruta Maya Organic Coffee for their continued financial support of our conference activities. And, of course, for all the wonderful coffee they brew and serve for us during the Meetings! We're so grateful that we can kick-off our early conference mornings with a comforting tasa de café ☕.

Happy New Year!! Want to hear what ancient Maya royalty have to say from beyond the grave? Join us on Saturday, Jan. 11th as UT’s own Dr. David Stuart presents "Receiving the Words of the Dead: Palenque’s Temple XVIII as an Ancient Maya Oracular Shrine", in which a jumbled pile of fallen hieroglyphs just served up some very fresh information (really!) about the third son of famous Palenque ruler Pakal. After playing the world's most complicated jigsaw puzzle with these ancient texts, Dr. Stuart and his team discovered something incredible about how the living and the dead communicated at Palenque. Don’t miss it! Registration information is available at https://utmesoamerica.org/registration-information-2025.

Ever wondered if ancient Maya ancestors could clap back? Join us on Saturday, Jan. 11th for "Past to Present Maya Ancestral Power: A Relational Phenomenological Approach" by Dr. Miguel Astor–Aguilera of Arizona State University, where we'll explore how the Maya weren't (and aren’t) just talking to their ancestors - they were negotiating, sweet-talking, AND sometimes giving them the ancient equivalent of a time-out! Learn how people back then (and today!) maintain relationships with both visible and invisible beings. Spoiler alert: it's complicated! Registration information is available at https://utmesoamerica.org/registration-information-2025.
