Invest in Texas

Invest in Texas We are Invest in Texas, the non-partisan student coalition of leaders across UT Austin who bring the student voice to the State Legislature.

Invest in Texas is a coalition of Student Government, Senate of College Councils, Graduate Student Assembly and other student organizations at The University of Texas at Austin. Our goal is to organize Longhorns to lobby the Texas Legislature to adequately fund UT, protect financial aid programs, and allow us to stay academically competitive. Our campaign is a non-partisan effort to support our un

iversity by asking lawmakers to:

Keep Us Affordable

1.) We SUPPORT the capital investment funding for the renovation of Welch Hall.

2.) We SUPPORT the continuation of in-state tuition for undocumented students of Texas residency.

3.) We SUPPORT the proposition of tax-free textbooks in the months of August and January.

4.) We SUPPORT the continuation of the Texas Competitive Knowledge Fund or similar funding and matching of grants that focus on maintaining and enhancing support for tier-1 institutions.

5.) We SUPPORT a provision that allows for institutions to decide their own policies and guidelines on campus carry.

6.) We OPPOSE the regulation of tuition and believe that tuition setting should be determined by the university. Follow us on Twitter at .

Hello, all. It is with a great deal of discussion and realistic evaluation, we have decided to cancel the March and Legislative Day. Numerous logistical problems including speakers, location permitting, meeting scheduling, and more, means we would not be able to hold a successful event. We will channel all of the work we have done for a very thorough transition for the next Invest in Texas team for the 2021 legislative session.

We still highly encourage all of you to be aware of the higher education bills going through the Texas legislature, to call your representatives and give testimony, and to continue to be civically engaged at all levels of policy making.
